RULE MAKING ACTIVITY:
ARM 32-24-504 and 32-24-505
On September 9, 2022, the Board of Milk Control adopted amendments to ARM 32.24.504 pertaining to transfer of quota and reassignment of quota from the unassigned quota pool and readjustment of quota into the statewide quota system.
ARM 32-24-450 (FY2024 Milk Control Assessment Rate)
On December 9, 2022, the Board of Milk Control adopted amendments to ARM 32-24-450 pertaining to milk control assessment rates that go into effect on July 1, 2023. The adopted rates will decrease milk control assessments by 9.47%.
MONTANA'S MILK INDUSTRY: ANALYSIS OF THE STATE-REGULATED MARKET:
In October 2021, the Legislative Audit Committee performed an audit of the Milk Control Program within the Department of Livestock. The Performance Audit found that the Board of Milk Control does effectively regulate the milk industry through class utilization pricing and pooling. The report also included a quote reduction recommendation that was concurred and pursued by the Board.

MONTANA MILK MARKET REGULATION STUDY FINAL REPORT:
In November 2017, the Board of Milk Control contracted Dairy Technomics LLC to conduct a study of milk market regulation in Montana. The final report for the study was received in June 2018. Download the final report using the hyperlink below.
