Estrayed Animals


The Montana Department of Livestock has taken up the following estrayed animals. For more information or to claim the estray, please contact your district investigator.

On the 21st day of May 2026, the Montana Department of Livestock took possession of the estrayed animal(s) described as follows:

  • One (1) Chestnut Paint Gelding – undeterminable freeze brand on the left thigh, with three white feet, mostly white face, and a white spot on the right hip
  • One (1) Older Sorrel Mare – no brand, thin and missing front teeth, with white patches on right and left cheeks, and star on forehead 

The animal(s) was found on LaSalle Road, 1.8 miles East of the intersection of US 87, Hill County, MT.

The animal(s) will sell at Western Livestock, Vaughn, MT., on the 24th day of June 2026.

  • One (1) Brown Gelding - D bar D stacked on the left shoulder, with a black mane and tail

The animal(s) was found on the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation, 1.7 miles East of the intersection of Laredo Road and Lower Box Road, Hill County, MT.

The animal(s) will sell at Western Livestock, Vaughn, MT., on the 24th day of June 2026.
