Pullorum disease is an infectious, egg-transmitted disease of poultry caused by the bacteria Salmonella Pullorum-Typhoid.

Pullorum infection mainly affects young chicks (under 3 weeks) and turkey poults, causing high mortality and a white diarrhea. However, the disease will also affect ducks, guinea fowl, pheasants, sparrows, quail, bittern, geese, pigeons, doves, parakeets and canaries.

ReportPullorum is a reportable animal disease. Report any confirmed or suspected case to: MT State Veterinarian 406-444-2043 and MT USDA APHIS Veterinary Services 406-449-2220.
