Wolf Depredation Board Seeks Board Member
Montana’s Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board is seeking a new board member to fill the remaining term of recently deceased board member, Hilliard McDonald.
The board, created by the Montana Legislature in 2007 and established by Montana Code Annotated 2-15-3110, administers a state program to reimburse livestock producers for wolf depredation losses and fund mitigation efforts to minimize livestock losses caused by wolves. The seven-member board, which meets twice a year, consists of three members nominated by the Montana Board of Livestock, three members nominated by the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission, and one member from the public at large.
Prospective board members must be knowledgeable or experienced in at least one of the following subjects: Raising livestock; livestock marketing, sales or breeding associations; and fundraising.
Individuals interested in serving on the board are encouraged to submit a letter of interest and reference/support letters to the Montana Department of Livestock. The Board of Livestock will review the list of interested individuals, and make recommendations to Governor Brian Schweitzer.
Letters of interest must be submitted by March 20, and should be sent to Livestock Loss Reduction and Mitigation Board, PO Box 202005, Helena MT 59620-0701 or emailed to gedwards@mt.gov.
