| Mandatory General Requirements |
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and Permit
- Imported Swine must be identified by ear tag or tattoo on the Health Certificate and must be inspected within 10 days of the departure date. (Ear notch identification is OK for untested swine only.)
- Statements to appear on CVI
- These swine are not PRV vaccinated and have not been fed raw garbage.
- There has been no evidence of PRV in the herd in the last 12 months.

- Brucellosis - breeding swine
- 4 months and older, must be from validated free herd or State or have a 30 day negative test.
- Brucellosis - feeding Swine
- If 4 months or older - must enter under breeding swine regulations
- Brucellosis: No Test Required
- Pseudorabies (PRV) - breeding swine:
- Stage IV or Stage V State - No test required
- Stage II or Stage III State - Must originate from a qualified PRV negative heard or have a negative test within 30 days of entry with quarantine isolation, and 30-60 day retest for Pseudorabies at destination.
- Pseudorabies (PRV) - feeding swine:
- Stage IV or Stage V State - Must be shipped directly from a farm of origin or a market-NO TESTS REQIRED
- Stage II State - Must originate from feeder-pig-monitored herd (Wherein the animals originated from an approved feeder pig market, a qualified PRV herd, or another feeder-pig-monitored herd); OR must originate from a qualified PRV negative herd.
- Stage III State - Must be shipped directly from a farm of origin - no tests required.
- NOTE: All swine from Stage II States are quarantined at the destination (to be kept separate) until they are sent to slaughter.
- Pseudorabies (PRV) - Slaughter Swine:
- Imports of slaughter swine must be from Stage III, IV, or V States and are permitted only to a recognized slaughter establishment (call for list) or an approved slaughter market (none in Montana at this time).
- Infected or exposed swine are prohibited entry into Montana by ARM 32.3.219(b).
