Ratites - Ostrich, Rhea, and Emu:

Mandatory General Requirements
Mandatory Specific Tests
  • Salmonella Pullorum-Typhoid-Enteritidis test
    • Must have a negative blood test for Salmonella Pullorum-Typhoid-Enteritidis within 30 days of entry, OR orginiate from NPIP.
  • Slaughter:
    • No test required if they go directly to slaughter , must provide the name of the slaughter establishment for permit. The following statement is required on the health: "FOR SLAUGHTER ONLY"
Hatching Eggs
  • Must origniate in flocks or be distributed from hatcheries or premises participating in National Poultry Improvement Plan, or operating under supervision of the Poultry Disease Control Authority of the state of origin and classified Pullorum-Typhoid Free and free of other infectious, contagious or communicable diseae(s).
