Temporary Requirements
In response to the current disease status of certain portions of the United States, the MDOL is requiring that Certificates of Veterinary Inspections (CVIs) for livestock entering Montana also contain the following information:

Livestock
Alternative Livestock- Bighorn, Dall Sheep, Desert Sheep, and Rocky Mountain Goats
- Captive Cervids - Antelope, Caribou, Deer, Elk, Fallow Deer, Muntjacs, and Reindeer
- Musk Ox
- See Exotics
- Camelids (Llamas, Alpacas, Camels, Guanacos, Vicunas)
- Elephants
- Fur farm - Lynx, Bobcats, Mink, Beaver, etc.
- Lions, Tigers, and Bears (Circus, Shows, Private Ownership)
- Ratites - Ostrich, Rhea, and Emu
- Water Buffalo
- Yaks
- Black Bears, Brown Bears (i.e., Grizzly Bears)
- Coyotes, Wolves, and Hybrids
- (Mountain lions), North and South American Cougars
- Wild Birds and Waterfowl
If the species in question is not listed in the above Import Requirements List, or in the following two laws (see links below), then the species is prohibited for importation into the State of Montana. However, keep in mind that the import classification system is ongoing and subject to change. If in doubt, call (406) 444-2043.
